- Conduction: The vacuum between the walls prevents heat from conducting from the hotter side to the colder side through a physical medium. The material of the walls (stainless steel) is also a poor conductor compared to many other materials.
- Convection: With the vacuum, there’s no air or fluid to circulate and transfer heat by convection currents.
- Radiation: The inner and outer walls are often polished or coated (sometimes with a thin layer of silver) to reflect radiant heat. This further reduces heat transfer by radiation.
Common Uses:
- Hot Beverages: Keeping coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or soup hot for hours, perfect for commutes, offices, or outdoor activities.
- Cold Beverages: Keeping water, juice, iced tea, or soda cold and refreshing, ideal for workouts, travel, or summer days.
